Purpose:

Whether to approve 2013/14 Annual Health and Safety Report, continued use of the Health and Safety Policy Statement , and further biennial audit of the council’s health and safety management systems in March 2015 by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

Decisions:

Cabinet received a report from the Corporate Director - Resources which updated them on a number of strategic health and safety issues and their individual responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Etc Act 1974.

 

The report advised of a review of the Council’s health and safety policy statement, production of the annual health safety report and the forthcoming audit of the Council’s health and safety management system by RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents).

 

Members were asked to make a commitment to attend the health and safety training available to them.

 

The Cabinet Member for Fire, Fleet and Central Support Services advised that he was proud of the work by the County Council on health and safety and encouraged members to attend for training if they possibly could.

 

RESOLVED,that

 

(1)               the 2013 health and safety policy statement be endorsed for continued use as appended to the report;

(2)               the 2013/14 Annual Health and Safety Report be endorsed;

(3)               the commissioning of a further RoSPA audit of the Counci’s health and safety management system be endorsed;

(4)               all members be encouraged to attend the one day (IOSH) Institution of Occupational Health and Safety accredited training.
