Better Places for Work (BP4W) - Carlisle

Decision Maker: Cabinet

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

The Corporate Director presented the final business case and recommended the award of a design and build contract to the preferred supplier for the construction of the new county council offices at William Street, Botchergate, Carlisle.

The Leader welcomed the report as the culmination of a long process designed to deliver a positive outcome for the future of the Council as well as providing for efficiencies and savings.  The project would provide greater savings in year one than the annual borrowing costs needed to fund the build and would deal with the long standing problem of backlog maintenance on the councils aging property portfolio.  The new offices would also have a positive economic impact on Botchergate and when considered alongside the redevelopment plans for Portland Square illustrated the efforts the council was putting into regenerating this area of Carlisle.

RESOLVED,    that Cabinet approve the final business case for the new Carlisle office and the award of the contract to the preferred supplier, to complete the design and build the scheme within the agreed cost.
