Approval to award the supply teacher insurance
“umbrella agreement” which the Council arranges on
behalf of Local Authority schools
The Corporate Director – Resources reported on the retendering of the Supply Teacher insurance “umbrella agreement”, which the Council undertakes on behalf of Local Authority (LA) schools, the existing agreement would expire at the end of March 2015. Under the agreement the Council offered a recommended insurer to schools based on a number of factors including an assessment of price, cover and financial standing.
The tendering process had been completed and the report sought Cabinet approval to award the umbrella agreement relating to the recommended provider of School Supply Teacher Insurance to Richard Thacker & Co. Ltd. on the basis that they submitted the most economically advantageous tender.
The estimated value, if all schools currently making use of the agreement continue to do so on the same basis, would be approximately £0.420m. The cost of the insurance was fully recharged to schools. The Council was not financially liable if schools choose not to take-up the insurance.
RESOLVED,that the agreement for recommended provider of School Supply Teacher Insurance to Local Authority schools be awarded to Richard Thacker & Co. Ltd on the basis that its bid was the most economically advantageous tender. The umbrella agreement would commence on 1st April 2015 following the expiry of the current agreement on 31st March 2015. The estimated value (if all schools currently making use of the agreement continue to do so on the same basis) would be approximately £0.420m. This amount was fully recharged to schools.
