Members received a report from the Corporate Director – Economy and Highways regarding Community Asset Transfer: Various Properties and Amendment of the Policy to permit transfers to other public bodies.

 

The report proposed three distinct aspects for consideration by Cabinet:-

 

        (a)    the updated Property Disposal Policy, incorporating the Community Asset Transfer Policy, to include transfers to other public bodies;

 

        (b)    a 12 month lease of the former lab at Skirsgill depot to Eden Flood Volunteers at nil rent;

 

        (c)     the freehold transfer of the former Thorncliffe School North Site, Barrow?in?Furness playing fields to the Hawcoat Park Sports Club for nil consideration.

 

Cabinet were delighted to be able to offer the former civil engineering laboratory at Skirsgill for a further 12 months at a nil rent to the Eden Flood Volunteers.  However, based on the recent issues with the County Council buildings at Skirsgill and Lillyhall they asked the Corporate Director to ensure surveys were carried out on the laboratory as soon as possible as a precautionary measure.

  

RESOLVED,that

 

(1)            the revised Property Disposal Policy, incorporating the Community Asset Transfer Policy (as detailed in appendix 1 to the report) be agreed;

 

                  (2)    the tenancy for up to 12 months of the former lab at Skirsgill depot to Eden Flood Volunteers at a nil rent be agreed;

 

                  (3)    the freehold transfer of the former Thorncliffe School North Site, Barrow?in?Furness playing fields to the Hawcoat Park Sports Club for nil consideration be agreed.
