We the undersigned petition the council to continue to maintain Ambleside Household Waste Recycling Centre, a valued and well used local rural community facility.

Residents are strongly opposed to the proposals made by Cumbria County Council to close the Ambleside waste recycling site due to the following issues: • This site was totally revamped to address legislation issues relating to access and health and safety using tax payers money.along with road sign directions • The closure is against the interests of all residents who use this well run popular site and to the detriment of the environment, as its closure could lead local communities in this area having to travel further to recycle their household waste to areas such as Kendal or Ulverston therefore increasing their carbon footprint. • It could increase the number of fly-tipping incidents which occur in and around the Ambleside and the surrounding areas, as people may not be prepared to travel to other sites to recycle their household waste. • Recycling rates may reduce further adding more costs to Cumbria County Council in landfill tax reducing the savings made by closing the sites. • Providing a mobile recycling service is not cost effective unless you are going to charge residents for the use of this service. I ask that you show your objection to Cumbria County Council’s proposals by signing this petition.
