Many local parishes and town councils across Cumbria are saying NO to continuing with the Managing Radioactive Waste Safely Partnership (MRWS) process, recognising the flawed process of community volunteerism when much better geological sites exist within the UK.
The issue of managing Radioactive Waste is of National
importance and sites should be found with the best geological
characteristics. Such sites exist in other areas of the UK and have
already been identified. Site selection should be based on best
scientific principles and not based on finding an acquiescent
community where communities rely upon the nuclear industry for
employment.
