To seek member approval for the formal adoption of an updated Cumbria Countryside Access Strategy for the period 2013-18. It follows its joint review and development by the three access authorities in Cumbria (the County Council, the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Park Authorities). The strategy is a key policy document for the county council as both highway and surveying authority with statutory responsibilities for public rights of way and access matters. Approval of the strategy is currently being sought by all three access authorities. It sets out the strategic direction and priorities for delivering an array of countryside access and recreation management activity across the county
