Consultation by Carlisle City Council on the Preferred Options for their Local Plan

The purpose of this report is to inform Cabinet Members of the consultation on the Carlisle Local Plan 2015-2030 (Preferred Options) and to seek their endorsement for a Corporate County Council response to be sent to Carlisle City Council.

The Local Plan will have an important role in identifying land use principles, development sites and in providing a framework for the determination of planning applications by Carlisle City Council.

As an important service and infrastructure provider and planning authority in its own right, it is very important that the County Council is fully engaged in the Local Plan’s development both through formal consultations stages and on an ongoing basis.

This response is informed by the inputs of corporate colleagues but also local members, the views of whom were sought at both a seminar and Carlisle Local Committee.
