Academy Presumption Process and Recommendation

In relation to Cabinet report: Proposed Closure of Southfield Technology College and Stainburn School and Science College and the presumption of a new academy in Workington.  Following the invite to sponsors (20 January to 28 February 2014) for the new academy school in Workington (which is depending on the closure of Stainburn and Southfield schools) this report is to seek approval from Members, with the aid of the recommendation from the LA, to make the decision to agree on the LAs recommended sponsor for the new academy.  This recommendation will then be put forward, with all other applications received, to the Secretary of State who will be the final decision-maker of their chosen sponsor for the academy.
