Local Flood Risk Management Strategy

Approve and publish the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy following public consultation. Cumbria County Council, as Lead Local Flood Authority under the Flood & Water Management Act 2010, must develop and publish a Local Flood Risk Management Strategy under s.9 of the Act. The public must be consulted on the Strategy which sets out the approach to be adopted by the Council in managing local flood risk in Cumbria.

• The Policy Objectives central to the Strategy were approved by the County Council’s Local Flood Risk Management Steering Group on 8th January 2014.
• A Draft for Partner Consultation was sent to over 80 individuals across 21 organisations in February 2014.
• A public consultation on the Draft Strategy was undertaken in November and December 2014.
