Shortbreaks provision for Disabled Children

Currently shortbreaks for disabled children are provided through a commissioned service for activities and in house provision of overnight shortbreaks. The in house provision will be increasing as The Elms shortbreaks home in Workington is transferring to local authority control from Cumbria Partnership NHS Trust. Cabinet will be asked to consider a proposal developed in conjunction with Cumbria Parent Carer Forum for the future provision of shortbreaks.
The decision will focus on commissioning both activity and overnight shortbreaks in three areas (Allerdale and Copeland, Barrow and South Lakeland, Carlisle and Eden)
